Of course there were many merit badges offered at camp. Many
of our scouts worked on the archery merit badge. Four scouts took the badge and each of them fulfilled all
requirements by the end of the week. Some of our scouts took other badges at the
shooting range like riffle shooting.
Troop 14 Scouts also took the physical fitness and camping
merit badges, both required
for eagle. Perhaps the toughest merit badge offered was wilderness survival.
Grant was the only scout in our troop to earn this merit badge with the most
requirement of camping outside without any tent or equipment. During
this merit badge Grant rescued a scout and brought him back to camp after
having him checked at the health lodge.
Other merit badges our scouts worked on were scout craft, astronomy,
climbing and fishing. These merit badges aren't just the path to eagle but
were a blast for the scouts who worked on them.
