A few lectures by Herr Professor Klinkner and "Luftmarschall" Bauer helped our scouts learn about Germany's WW2 history but Dachau was still an eye-opener for the boys. It was a somber experience, one which the scouts will never forget. Still, going to Dachau was a worthwhile experience, especially since we would be visiting Hitler's Eagle's Nest.

We walked the grounds, checking out where barracks were once located.

On the recommendation of our tour guide, several of us bought the book here, which has been in print since the late 40's

Although these ovens (below) were used to dispose of human bodies, this was not a frequent occurrence here.

It's too easy to just go scrolling past these photos and not fully realize the gravity of what's shown.  Each and every view is worthy of pause and reflection. 

While barbed wire fenced human beings, it could not defeat the human spirit.
