Where: Friday, August 4, 2007
When: Friday, August 4, 2007
Notes: The snow we saw here was just a hint of what was to come for the Blue Team on their hikes up two mountains later in the week.  Check here and here for other pictures.

Less than 15 minutes from our stop at Olmstead Point, having just come out of an impressive storm, we had to pull off the road just to check things out.  The ground was completely covered with fine hail, just as if there'd been a snow storm.

In August!

The photo at the top of the page is probably one of the most beautiful of all the ones take by any of us on this trip.  Mike Fitzsimmons did a great job.  I use the full-screen version as the background on my computer, and it always gets complements and questions.  A close second is the photo at the bottom of this page.

It's worth pointing out that only a few hours prior, we were several thousand feet lower in elevation, in shorts and t-shirts, sweating(!), climbing around at the base of Yosemite Falls, and now here we were shivering.
