A group of scouts from Troop 14 participated in a mock trial presided over by UC Professor Bernard Hyman at the Town of New Hartford Court. These scouts earned the Law merit badge.

Prior to the commencement of the trial, the scouts were able to tour the New Hartford Court facilities and participated in a mock arraignment conducted by the Honorable Kevin Copeland, Town Justice.

The mock trial was a civil proceeding involving a vehicle that was a “lemon” and the scout attorneys examined scout witnesses
and some of the adult leaders that participated as witnesses.

The scouts were able to learn about our civil and criminal justice systems and did a great job!
