This was the largest group we've ever had for a simple hike and overnight.  Fantastic turnout, and fantastic weather.  And, so far as we can remember, it was the very first time that we had two moms join us.

Kudos to them!

After a fairly easy 2.4 mile hike, we made camp at the first of two lean-tos available at the lake.  We were the only ones there, which was a surprise considering that we were at pretty much the peak of color change for that region.

Tents were scattered about, (including Mr. I's tent-hammock shown above), and the scouts set to work gathering wood.  A bunch of the guys also made great fun out of using a magnifying glass to burn leaves.

Our fearless leader took charge for all things food related, and it came out wonderfully.  We had salad with ziti and meatballs (60 of 'em) for dinner, and pancakes and bacon for breakfast.

6 pounds of bacon, to be exact.

All of this was lovingly cooked over a campfire, just as it should be!  The proportions came out near perfectly, with no-one going hungry.

The view below was taken independently by every adult with a camera.
It's easy to see here why people fall in love with the Adirondacks.

Oh... and of course the boys found burdocks and managed to amuse themselves by throwing them at each other for what seemed like hours.

Does anybody know how trees manage to grow up and around boulders like this?
